NSIRNational Satellite Image Repository

A comprehensive satellite imagery platform with AI-powered analysis, building Bangladesh's sovereign geospatial intelligence capability for the next generation of space-based applications.

The Challenge

When Hours Matter, We Wait Days

In August 2023, flash floods devastated southeastern Bangladesh. Feni, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Bandarban were submerged within hours. 2.4 million people were exposed, with 1.2 million directly affected and 51 lives lost.

The satellites were watching. NASA's SWOT satellite captured the flooding. International agencies had the imagery. But coordinating access, processing data, and delivering actionable intelligence to relief workers on the ground took precious time that flood victims didn't have.

This pattern repeats every monsoon season. Farmers can't assess crop damage without waiting for external assessments. The navy monitors maritime boundaries with limited real-time visibility. Urban planners track encroachment using outdated surveys. The data exists in orbit, but the infrastructure to harness it locally does not.

Japan

JAXA Disaster Response

Japan's satellite constellation provides critical imagery within hours of any disaster. During the 2011 tsunami, satellite data guided rescue operations and saved countless lives through rapid damage assessment.

Hours, not days

NSIR aims to bring these capabilities home, building the foundation for Bangladesh's own geospatial intelligence infrastructure.
